Faculty News and Research
Assistant Professor Gang Hu presented his paper, "Do Fund Managers Try to Mislead Investors? Evidence from Their Daily, Year-End Trades" at the American Finance Association (AFA) Annual Meeting in Atlanta.
Babson College Fund News
The BCF has been very active this year.
  • The team has reviewed more than 70 stocks and the return in the fund has been very strong, up more than 25 percent for the academic year. The lack of exposure to the financial sector has hurt returns relative to the market, but the gap has been closing rapidly as the students invest in their ideas.
  • This year's group has done an outstanding job of documenting their recommendations, which are archived on SharePoint. The group is preparing semester-ending reports that will help next year's students get up to speed quickly.
  • The requirement that all reports be available 24 hours in advance has made the meetings much more efficient.
  • BCF has had 15 guest speakers so far this year, including Steve Cutler, Chip Dickson, and Bill LaPoint from the Cutler Center Advisory Board.
Library Resources News
The Rotman Interactive Trader application has been installed on all of the Cutler Center machines. This trading simulation application can be used with a number of stock, commodity, and bond trading scenarios, which are managed by the instructor and suitable for classroom exercises in understanding and experiencing the actual trading process.

Did you know that Babson alumni have access to Cutler Center resources such as Bloomberg and FactSet in addition to online access to the Alumni Database? If you are interested in getting training and expanding your financial tool skill set, contact Jack Cahill in the Cutler Center for further details.

Vorlicek spoke at the Cutler Center to FIP members on Thursday, February 25.
