Wellness - Beginner/Intermediate Boot Camp

Description: Boot Camp is a 50 minute, two day a week program designed to improve your cardio endurance, build strength and induce weight loss.  The personalized approach to group exercise makes the class fun and motivating in pursuit of results and your personal goals.  Instructor Craig Paris uses a variety of body weight exercises, resistance bands, agility drills, running, and plyometric training to activate multiple muscle groups and burn the maximum amount of calories during class.

This nonprofit organization operates a community supper each Thursday evening. The mission is to provide a nutritious meal in a hospitable environment to anyone who needs a meal. Babson students will serve about 100 meals to those in need and help clean up afterwards.

Description:

Sorenson Center for the Arts and the Glavin Office of Multicultural Programs presents Moonlight (2016) as part of a week long offering of events in celebration of Black Heritage Month.  This drama is a tender, heartbreaking story of a young man's struggle to find himself, told across three defining chapters in his life as he experiences the ecstasy, pain, and beauty of falling in love, while grappling with his own sexuality.  

 We encourage a 6:50 PM arrival for a 7:00 PM movie showing.  

 Refreshments will be served afterwards in the lobby upstairs courtesy of Diversity and Inclusion, the Office of the President.  See poster for more details.

This nonprofit organization provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. Babson students will sort and put together care packages of clothes, toys, and books for children in the greater Boston area.

Wellness - Meditation

Description: This weekly meditation class will be led by Babson’s Meditation Instructor, Chris Scheller, who will guide participants through a variety of accessible, secular meditation techniques adapted from the Buddhist tradition. These simple and direct practices cultivate relaxation, mindfulness, and basic wellbeing. By relaxing tension and opening to our sensory experience through these techniques, participants will learn new means of working with stress, difficult emotions, physical discomfort, and the challenges we encounter in our lives. This class is suitable for any experience level.

Chris trained to teach meditation at Harvard University, where he received a Master of Divinity degree in 2009. He concentrated his studies on the intersection of meditation and psychology, as well as the history of meditation practices within the Buddhist tradition. He has studied at various ashrams and monasteries in India and the USA including the Tushita Meditation Centre, the Insight Meditation Society, the Zen Peacemakers, and lived and studied at the Cambridge Zen Center.

Description: CHARLOTTE, NC: BABSON'S ANNUAL DAY OF SERVICE

The Babson Alumni and Friends Network and the Alumni Club of Charlotte invite you to Babson's Annual Day of Service in partnership with The Crisis Assistance Ministry. 

Please join fellow alumni, families and friends as we gather to help make a collective difference by volunteering with our standout team of Babson community members to pay it forward by giving back. 

Crisis Assistance Ministry is a non-profit agency focused on preventing homelessness and preserving dignity for Charlotte-Mecklenburg's working poor--providing assistance with rent, utilities, clothing and furniture. The Free Store provides donated clothing and household items all at no charge to families in need, so that people can use their limited resources on other necessities. Interested volunteers will be asked to sort and inspect donations, hang clothing, stock the Free Store and assist our Free Store Production Area as needed.
